Philippines Trip Collection

In February, First Baptist Tulsa will take a group to work with one of our partner ministries at an orphanage in the Philippines. We have been collecting toys and books to take with us, but the director has shared a list of items including medical supplies, school supplies, shoes and socks — even computers, so the 37 children don’t have to fight for time to do their school papers on the three computers they currently have. Quilting/Sewing Ministry

Did you know we have a quilting ministry? The group meets on Thursday mornings at 10:30 in the café and new faces are always welcome! Recently, the ladies of our quilting ministry made 57 fleece neck warmers to be distributed to our male clients at the Caring Center to help them keep warm for the rest of the winter. They are currently making fleece infinity scarves for the female clients. We are thankful for their generous hearts!

Lenten Season 2018

We are approaching the start of Lent, a time of preparation for the coming of Easter. We will begin the Lenten season with a Fat “Sunday” free pancake breakfast on February 11 before community groups. We invite you to join us as we continue this annual tradition!

Dementia Friendly Community

We had a huge turnout for our Dementia Friendly Church training lunch! Thank you to Susan Dornblaser for helping to lead this effort! Following the training, Jonathan Townsend (on behalf of Tulsa Mayor GT Bynum) presented Deron and Marissa, as representatives of FBC, a recognition proclamation for being the first faith-based organization to go through the dementia training. What a significant step forward for our church community!

Topping out Ceremony

On Monday, First Baptist Tulsa, Nabholz Construction and HH Architects celebrated the completion of steel work on our new children and preschool building with a topping out ceremony and lunch. In building construction, topping out is a builders’ rite traditionally held when the last beam is placed atop a structure during its construction.
