Pastoral Care

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. . . Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:2,10

As followers of Jesus, we are called to help carry the burdens of our brothers and sisters, but we often forget that we are equally called to allow others to do the same for us. At First Baptist, it is our joy to show compassion to those in need of help, hope, and healing. It is our desire to assure you that just because you are carrying a burden doesn’t mean that you are a burden.

Do you need Prayer?

First Baptist Tulsa would be honored to pray for you. Each and every prayer request we receive is prayed over by the ministerial staff, as well as our Prayer Team who meet weekly at the church. If you or someone you love needs prayer, we invite you to submit your request.

Hospital Visitation

We want everyone in our church family who is admitted to the hospital to have contact from our deacons and ministers. Due to confidentiality, hospitals cannot inform us of your stay. If you are being admitted to the hospital, please notify the church at 918.587.1571 and it would be our honor to visit and pray with you.

Boundless Ministry

For First Baptist members who are no longer able to come to our physical building, it’s important they know they are still part of our church family. Volunteers from our Boundless Ministry visit with our homebound members, bringing them literature, a small gift from the church, and fellowship. Please join us in bringing the love and warmth of Christian fellowship to those who are at risk of suffering from isolation!

If you, or someone you love, would appreciate a monthly visitor from First Baptist, call (918)587-1571.

Deaf Ministry

We have a thriving ministry for the Deaf and hard of hearing. During the 11:00 am worship service we have an interpreter in American Sign Language, as well as hearing assist technology available at the guest services desk. Other events can be interpreted on request. We also have a community group, S.I.G.N., that meets on Sundays at 9:45 am in room 113 in the Detroit Tower. We are a caring group of all ages of Deaf, Blind, and others who enjoy good Bible teaching and fellowship. Our studies are taught in sign language and voice interpreted.

If you, or someone you love, would appreciate more information, call (918)587-1571.

At First Baptist, we understand that those living with memory change benefit greatly from remaining active within their church family for as long as they are able. To help our members feel comfortable and understood, volunteers and staff have received the training necessary to become Tulsa’s first Dementia Friendly church, part of the larger Dementia Friendly initiative of the City of Tulsa.

If you need assistance, our ushers are here to help. Family restrooms are located in the Cincinnati room, on the lower level near the fellowship hall, within the café kitchen, and behind the grand staircase in the children’s building lobby. A quiet room can be found in the Detroit corridor in the Ivorie room.

Griefshare

GriefShare is a supporting group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. Our GriefShare group meets weekly at our South Campus to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.

Each week participants watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. After viewing the video, they spend time as a support group, discussing the ideas presented in the video, as well as what is going on in their lives. For more information visit griefshare.org

Overcomer’s Outreach

Overcomers Outreach is an international network of Christ-centered 12 Step support groups that ministers to individuals, their families, and loved ones who suffer from the consequences of any addictive behavior. We exist to serve as a bridge between traditional Twelve step recovery groups and churches of all denominations. We recover together as we meet to study and grow in God’s Word. Our ministry is all welcoming, regardless of age, race, lifestyle, background, or belief. We have a group that meets weekly at our South Campus. For more information, call (918) 587-1571.
