November is Missions Month

In November, we highlight and celebrate missions at First Baptist Tulsa. Every year we set a goal to give sacrificially towards a year-end missions offering. For 2019, that goal is $235,000, and every penny of that will go out of our church to the mission field. But how is that money spent?

Sixty percent of what is given through the missions offering goes to fund missions work through the International Mission Board (IMB). Currently, the IMB employs 3,678 missionaries living and working among the 4.5 billion unreached people in the world. Tens of thousands of people are coming to Christ, being baptized and discipled because of Southern Baptists’ collective efforts of giving through the IMB...


Guatemala Medical Mission Trip

You’ve heard of the least of these from Matthew 25:31-46. It’s a beautiful statement of Jesus’ concern for the weak and the vulnerable. It’s also a challenge for Christians to model that same concern. It’s important to not only acknowledge, but to also serve the least of these, and that is exactly who we found ourselves serving on our recent medical mission trip to Guatemala. Our team of First Baptist Tulsa members traveled to three different villages over three days; two of which were further up in the mountains. We arrived early each morning, set up our clinic and worked until dark. Everyone stayed busy throughout the day... 


Personal Worship Challenge

In the words of Dave McPherson, “I’m excited!” We have a great opportunity to challenge ourselves this month by participating in First Baptist Tulsa’s Personal Worship Challenge (PWC). This challenge is designed to help us discover what it means to hunger and thirst after God. 

Matthew says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst, for they will be filled.” Jeremiah says, “If you seek me with all your heart you will find me.” In the Psalms, we are told, “Taste and see that the Lord is good!” It all seems fairly simple. If we humble ourselves and honestly seek Him everyday, we will be filled. We will find Him. We will know that the Lord is good! Wow! ...
